What should happen to a translation when the issuing authority changes the source record?
A revised source needs a deliberate translation review. Keep the earlier and later versions identifiable, describe the actual changes and ask the provider to issue an appropriately revised deliverable; do not edit a signed translation yourself.

Distinguish correction from replacement
An issuer may amend one field, issue a fresh certificate or replace an entire record. Record the new issue date and any amendment note. A new source can contain additional changes beyond the one the requester expected, so compare the complete versions.
Give the provider a change map
Identify affected pages and fields without asking the translator to ignore the rest of the new source. Ask whether a new certificate and full replacement PDF are needed. A correction to the original translation and a translation of a changed source are different service events.
Control the outgoing file
Use clear filenames and retire the superseded version from the submission folder. Keep the history for your records rather than deleting evidence of the change. Confirm which version the recipient has already received before sending a correction through its authorized channel.
Distinguish a source amendment from a translation correction
A source amendment changes the issuing record; a translation correction fixes how an unchanged source was rendered. Keep those paths separate. If a registry corrects a name or date, obtain the amended document and any notation explaining the amendment. Asking the translator to insert the corrected fact into an old source version would break the connection between the certified English text and the document it describes.
Compare the old and new sources field by field, including issue dates, record numbers, signatures and marginal notes. A replacement may change more than the field you originally queried. For an example, a corrected birth certificate may carry the same register number but a new issue date and an added amendment reference. All relevant changed text needs review, not merely the spelling that prompted the request.
Release a replacement package with a clear source identity
Tell the provider whether the new record supersedes the earlier one or supplements it. A complete translation of the amended record may require a newly dated certificate associated with that source, according to the provider and recipient's requirements. Do not detach an old certificate and attach it to revised English pages yourself. The signer needs to control the statement being certified.
For USCIS or another receiving authority, follow the actual instruction for submitting corrected or additional evidence. Translation does not determine whether an earlier submission can be replaced or how a case update should be filed. Within the document project, label the old source and translation as superseded, keep them available for reference and identify the current deliverables. If both versions are requested to show the amendment history, supply them as distinct records. That makes the change understandable without hiding the original record or creating several competing current translations.
